A Murmur in the Trees – An Earth Day Celebration

On April 21, 2024, and in honor of the eminent bassist Robert Black, Network will gather 24 crowd-sourced double bassists to give an encore performance of Eve Beglarian’s A Murmur in the Trees, inspired by the eponymous poem by Emily Dickinson. The composer will be on-site to give direction and choreography to the performance.

Haverford College Nature Trail (map) - 2:00 PM start time (go to the Haverford College Guest Parking Lot)

Tickets for this performance are Pay-as-You-Wish. We highly recommend buying a ticket/registering for the event as there’s the potential for changes due to weather that we need to notify you of!

In addition to the performance, starting at noon, the Haverford Arboretum staff are offering free tours of the arboretum! Sign up for one of these ~30 minute tours of the Haverford grounds to learn about the history of the arboretum and about the diverse species they have growing!

This year’s performance is given in memory of the late Robert Black (pictured above on the right, with composer Eve Beglarian in the center and Network’s Artistic Director Thomas Schuttenhelm on the left at last year’s performance). It is an honor for us all to carry on his legacy with this work performed by many of his friends and students.
