Concerts and events celebrating jazz, poetry and American folk song, April 4 - 6:
April 5-12, 2013
Third Space is a Network for New Music mini-festival of performances and other events taking place from April 5 – April 12, 2013. Using electronic sound and images in combination with traditional instruments, composers create something entirely new for these performances — a blended “third space” that is solely expressive, an extension of the human imagination.
The festival includes three different concert programs, each with a unique pre-concert musical aperitif, and one open master class for the students of Philadelphia Sinfonia youth orchestra.
Saturday April 6, 2 pm: Master Class with Philadelphia Sinfonia
Students from the Philadelphia Sinfonia youth orchestra work on the world premiere of Hourglass, a new work for string quartet and computer-generated sound by Van Stiefel.
